Magic Accessories Butterfly Necklace Review*

You may remember that last month I reviewed a beautiful Poppy Necklace from Magic Accessories, (you can read it here), so when they got in touch with me again to ask if I would like to review another set I was thrilled.

This time I have been sent a lovely necklace and earring set from the Butterflies range and the attention to detail on them is amazing, I also like the fact that the chain is a good length and not too short.

Five Pound Dress OOTD

I know the outfit posts have been a bit few and far between lately partly due to my working hours and also lack of light as we enter the darker months. I will also admit that I have felt a bit meh of late and I haven't even instagramed what I am wearing as I seem to have been a bit low.

A few weeks ago the awesome Leah from Just Me Leah shared a link to a fab dress which she had spotted on Everything Five Pounds. I headed over to have a look and my inner 17 year old did a happy dance as I added the dress to my basket!!

I think I am beginning to regress back to my student days, all I need now are some DM's and my inner teenager would be so happy!!

I have to say I do love this dress and for a fiver I can't complain, I did size up as I wanted a looser fit and it also means it isn't too short for me to wear it with tights. My only problem is that when I wear a coat over it, the material of the dress pulls the lining of my coat and my coat goes all strange!!

In fact I was so taken with this dress I also bought it in the wine colour which I think I am going to wear on Christmas Day!

I do love the five pound websites and my advice is to check back on a regular basis as the stock gets updated and if you see something you like buy it as they tend to sell out.

Plus 40 Fabulous

Hello and welcome to a brand new monthly challenge which has been created by the awesome Leah and Mookie and is a celebration of all things 40 plus!!

If you are a new reader (hello!!) then welcome my name is Nikki and I turned 40 earlier this year, which at first I was dreading but now I am there and a few months in I rather like being 40!!

I think its fair to say that so much is geared towards the young and even in the world of blogging those of us in our 40's are in the minority but we are here!!

Society celebrates youth and beauty so it can be hard at times when you look in the mirror and see the years reflected in your skin, but for me all those laughter lines, and frown lines tell the story of all the times I have laughed and cried.

I would say that it is only now that I have finally become comfortable in my own skin. Sadly I spent most of my twenties and some of my thirties in a constant state of yo-yo dieting and doing the whole I will live when I reach a certain dress size. Now I just live because life is too short and regardless of what dress size I'm wearing I aim to enjoy myself! Whilst I love fashion I don't feel under pressure to follow all the latest trends, instead I dress to please myself.I don't intend to grow old gracefully because why should I and I certainly won't be told what I can and can't wear because of my age!!

When it comes to my personal style I don't think I could describe it one word as I wear whatever I feel comfortable in which one day could be a retro dress with cats on and the next an oversized t-shirt dress and trainers! What I do know is that I have a huge love off dresses and I am not afraid of colour and standing out in the crowd!

It's funny but in my mind I still feel the same as when I was 21 (although my knees would sometimes disagree!) and I forget that I am 40 as I walk along listening to the indie tunes of my student days which are nearly 20 years ago!!

All in all I like being 40 and I look forward to what this decade brings (okay maybe not all the things that it may bring!!) and I think I may have finally reached the age where I start to let go of all the daft things that I once worried about!

October Instagram Round Up

Hello and Happy November! I am sorry the blog has been quieter of late but I am in the midst of the busiest time of year in my day job and then vlogtober took a lot of my time last month!
