Spending Ban

Well we have made it through January and we are now almost about to say goodbye to February and so far this year my finances have been less than rosy!! The time has come to impose a spending ban and a chance for me to really get to grips with just where my money goes!

Like many other people I am still recovering from Christmas and then having to struggle through January so I need to save money and focus on only buying the absolute essentials. I currently have subscriptions to Graze and You Beauty boxes and I think sadly I have to say goodbye to both of these for the time being (both are fab services) and anything else that is not essential.

The problem of being a fashion blogger is finding new clothes to blog about and constantly feeling the pressure to be wearing the latest trend or must have piece. Everyday I am bombarded with emails offering discounts, free delivery deals and I am trying to get into the mindset of not reading these messages and therefore not allowing myself to get sucked into spending!

My wardrobe is bulging I don't need any new clothes it is just me satisfying my compulsion to want to spend because I feel fed up, and the reason I am fed up is because I have no money- vicious circle here I come!!

So my intention now is to 'shop' my wardrobe to dig into the depths and find those long forgotten outfits and give them an airing and hopefully find some pieces that haven't been on the blog before or if they have style them up differently. I will admit there a few pieces that have been purchased prior to this ban being implemented which haven't made the blog yet including my 99p dress which will be on the blog next week, but once these have been featured that has to be it!!

I'm hoping that by blogging about this it will encourage me to stick to it and that hopefully over the coming months I get used to a more frugal lifestyle.

Now readers this is where you come in- if anyone has any suggestions for other things I can blog about to mix things up a bit then please feel free to leave me some ideas as at the moment most of my blog posts are focused on fashion.

Has anyone else decided to impose a spending or have you done one in the past? If so how did you get on?

Wish me luck!!!

Red Herring OOTD

Hello and welcome to Tuesday which sadly finds me rather poorly today- full of cold and feeling like I have been run over with a steam roller! Anyway I thought I would do a quick OOTD of an outfit I wore last week and managed to get some photos of before the lurgy set in!

This dress was a Valentines Day present from my hubby and I spotted it on the sale rail in Debenhams, it had been reduced from £32.00 to £9.50 so I grabbed it! Its from Red Herring which isn't a brand I really wear much from but it is one of the chance moments when you see something and go with it.
Its a stretchy material so plenty of room for my boobs and it should have come with a belt which was missing but I like it without so cut the loops off. I wore it to work last week and had loads of compliments and felt really comfortable all day in it- so it is a winner of a dress!

Please excuse my odd expressions in the photos we have new neighbours and they were looking out of their upstairs window wondering what I was doing and it put me off!!

Sadly the dress is not on their website but you never know you may stumble across it on a sale rail!
Have you had any chance finds that have been total bargains?

Fresh As A Daisy

Hello and happy weekend peeps a quick OOTD from me today as I am now feeling much better and more like me again!

The dress in this post is from Primark who have finally gotten on board with the swing dress trend and you know me I love a good swing dress!! I originally found this dress in the Merry Hill store but not in my size, but then found it a few weeks later in the Birmingham store whilst playing my favourite game of hunt the size 20!!

Necklace gift from my Mum

I do like this dress but is is not as swing like as the ones you get from ASOS and it is very see through I added a slip and a cami underneath for an extra layer otherwise everything would have been on show!!

My outfit details

Dress Primark
Cardigan ASOS Curve via Ebay
Necklace- given to me by my mum
Boots Ebay

I love the daisy print as it reminds me spring is on the way!! Do you have any clothes you are looking forward to wearing once the season starts to change?

You Beauty Box

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I used to subscribe to Glossybox but after a couple of disappointing boxes and in an effort to not spend as much I cancelled my subscription. I wasn't intending to subscribe to any others but then I saw a few blog posts about the You Beauty Discovery box which at £6.95 is much cheaper.

It works slightly differently to Glossybox in that you can choose two of the products you are sent (subject to availability) and you also receive two mystery items as well.

I decided to take the plunge and here is my box.

The first thing I noticed is the box is a lot smaller than Glossybox but still nicely packaged (mine got a bit creased from being shoved through the letterbox).

A booklet outlining all the available products and some blurb about each one.

These were one of my surprise gifts and they were yummy! They are gluten, wheat and dairy free so suitable for vegetarians and Vegans. Very rich and probably quite good for use in cooking as well I can imagine adding these to a cookie mix.

The first of my choices a Stila Lip Glaze, I have never owned one so I grabbed the chance to try one and I am excited to see what it is like.
My second choice Mysterious Crystal Eyeliner, a brand I have never heard of but I am always on the look out for a good eyeliner, especially as my trusty Avon one has just run out.

Finally my other suprise gift which is a sample of Charles Worthington Salon Home volume treatment which I shall try as I do have very fine hair.

Overall I am pleased with the box, I guess because you can choose you are more in control and I love that you still get unknown items as well so you still get a surprise.

If finances allow I shall keep going with this one as it is a much cheaper alternative to some of the other boxes.

Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes?

New Look Boyfriend Coat

Hello and happy Friday and Happy Valentines  Day (if you celebrate it).

Sorry for the quietness on the blog this week but I am still recovering from having my tooth taken out last week (I ended up in quite a lot of pain with dry socket so it is taking longer to heal), so I have a quick outfit post which I took the photos for before I had all this done!

Being photobombed by my son!

I found this coat by chance on the New Look website and it was reduced to £20.00, I loved the colour and the look of it so decided to take a chance. I sized up to get an oversized fit and it means I can stick a chunky cardigan on underneath as to be fair it is not the warmest of coats!

Since taking these photos I have cut the hanger loops out as they were in an awkward place and kept showing as you can see in the pictures. I think this coat will be great for the spring when a lighter coat is needed and I can dress it up and down.

It is still available from  New Look online but there are only limited sizes now left.

Have you tried the boyfriend trend yet?

OMCZ #26

Hello and welcome to this edition of OMCZ and the theme this time was chosen by the fabulous Steph (also the organiser of OMCZ) and she went with...

My theme is looking back and I’d like us to all look back over the last 12 months since the challenge started and see how we have changed.

It doesn’t matter if this is your first or 26th post in this challenge I think it’s be nice for all of us to look back and reflect on how we have changed in 12 months style wise.

Now a year ago I wasn't actually a blogger so I shall be looking back over my outfits since March of last year when I first started the blog.

My outfit of choice in those days was skinny jeans, skinny jeans and more skinny jeans! Dresses were not really part of my wardrobe apart from the odd black party dress for my Xmas do's!  So here is one of my first ever outfit posts!

A very typical outfit choice for me of oversized top and skinny jeans!! Notice how I had yet to perfect the blogger poses and look somewhat uncomfortable being photographed!!!

Fast forward to July when I did my first ever OMCZ challenge which was breaking the fashion rules and see how my style how changed!

Bare legs, bare arms and stripes totally breaking all the fat girl fashion rules and loving every minute of it!

I think it is fair to say that more than half of my wardrobe is now made up of dresses and to see me in jeans is now more of a rare event! Thanks to OMCZ challenges I have made bolder choices and pushed my own boundaries.

This outfit really showed how far I had come, really bright and tighter fitting not something you would have found in my wardrobe before!

I even ventured into the world of bodycon dresses and this one from Primark became a firm favourite last summer for work and shopping VBO and all!

This is now one of my favourite things to wear a swing dress in fact I now own 8 swing dresses and goodness knows how many dresses in total!

So yes my style has changed I am more adventurous love brighter colours, have worn bodycon dresses, crop tops and pencil skirts who knew!

This is why I love the plus size blogging community there are so many fabulous ladies wearing outfits that have really inspired me to try something new.

Don't forget to check out the other fabulous ladies also looking back over the last year.

Saturday Skating

Hello and happy weekend hope you all having a fabulous weekend even if the weather is a bit wild and windy!!

I am already a huge fan of skater style dresses but I have taken awhile to try out skater skirts but I am now onto my third one!!

This is actually an outfit that I wore last Sunday to have lunch at my parents and I manged to get outside in the sunshine to take some photos.

I love this skirt it was a chance find in the Merry Hill branch of Primark and hubby very kindly treated me I think it was about £8.00 The top is from New Look and I sized up to get a looser fit, the necklace is an old one from Primark and the boots are from Ebay.

I think my only reservation with these skirts is the length as they do tend to come up shorter but I wear thick tights and big black pants to try and avoid too much flashing!

Magnificent 7th

Hello and welcome to this months Magnificent 7th if you are not familiar with this challenge his is the idea behind it...

The aim of the challenge is to create an outfit to fit the theme, using clothes from our wardrobes, and yes that does mean digging deep into the depths and finding those long lost clothes! Hopefully one of us won’t end up in Narnia, but you never know with a bloggers wardrobe!

The theme for this month is date night, now hubby and I don't really go out on date nights these days and if I am honest my idea of a great night is to curl up on the sofa with some chinese food and a good movie.

I do however have one outfit in my wardrobe which has never been seen on the blog before and it is my husbands favourite (I'm sure you can guess why when you see it) and as this is the month of Valentines Day I decided to go with it for this post!

Yes I finally own a babydoll!! This one is the Lola by Curvy Kate, I was so excited when they first announced these were going to be launched as I have never been able to wear one before as due to the size of my boobs I need underwiring!
I have this in a 36JJ and in hindsight I should have gone with the 36K but I can live with that!

I love the fact that I can now buy things like this as 10 years ago there was nothing in my size so well done Curvy Kate!

I must admit I find the stockings and suspenders a total faff, the stockings are from Pamela Mann and they came from ebay and the suspender was also an ebay find and it is quite generous in size.

What is your ideal date night and does it involve fancy underwear?!

Don't forget to check out the other fabulous ladies also taking part.
