The One Where I met Gok Wan

So a few weeks ago an email popped up in my inbox which I read once and then read again and again and again, it was from Simply Be inviting me for an evening of cocktails with Gok Wan for the launch of his shapewear range. My first thought was they must have sent this to me by mistake and then my second thought was shall I go?!!

As luck would have it I spotted the amazing Leah from Just Me Leah mentioned she had also been invited but wanted to buddy up with someone so a plan was formed! I found a cheap Travelodge in Kings Cross (we ended up with the smallest room known to man!!) and away we went!

We meet at last!!!

My outfit for the night ASOS Lace Swing Dress Henry Holland Jacket

We managed to navigate the tube without any incidents but then we realised we had no idea where in Covent Garden we were supposed to be!!! A quick phone call to my hubby to check my emails Google maps on my phone and eventually we got there!!!

It took me ages to pluck up the courage to ask Gok for a photo and I have to say he is lovely in real life he happily posed for photos with everyone and chatted away. The highlight of the night had to be when during a group photo Leah made a comment which made me have a fit of the giggles and Gok wanted to know who had the dirty laugh and the whole room pointed to me and shouted Nikki!!

As well as meeting Gok I also got to meet a bevy of beautiful bloggers:

Becky and Becky!

Cass Parsnip and Leah
Megan, Becky, Cass, Leah and Becky
Leah, Beka, Emma, Bee, Becky and Megan

Becky and her amazing boobs!

Goodies
Its fair to say we all had a fab evening it was lovely to meet everyone and I did have a few fangirl moments, especially when I saw Bethany from Arched Eyebrow and Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust. It was lovely to meet everyone and also to see those who I met at Plus North again, needless to say I woke up this morning with a sore throat from all the laughing!!!

Thank you to Simply Be, Gok Wan and all the amazing bloggers for a fantastic night.

Winter Warmer

We all know the days are getting cooler and the clocks are due to go back this weekend (don't forget!) so I thought it was about time I organised a new coat as the one have been wearing for the past three years is looking a bit tatty!!

I trawled the internet as I had my heart set on a parka and eventually found one on Ebay for a rather reasonable £30.00

It is by Brave Soul who from what I can gather online no longer sell women's clothes so I guess this is end of line bits. It arrived in the post this morning and I tore the wrapping open tried it on and quickly took some pictures.

As I was unsure of the sizing I took a gamble and ordered up a size in a 22 and it was just as well as I think a 20 would have struggled to fit over my boobs, and a 22 is the biggest size they do.

Overall I am very pleased with it I think it will be great for the school run in the morning especially on rainy mornings and I should be able to fit a few layers underneath for warmth.

I hope you are all have a fabulous Friday and weekend.

Just Another Blogging Challenge

Hello and welcome to a brand new monthly challenge, which has been devised by the lovely Toni from The Only Way is Toni and the first theme is a transitional outfit so we are taking something we wore in the Summer and re-styling it for Winter.

I chose to use an H&M dress which I bought over the summer.

Dress from H&M cardigan Peacocks

Necklace from Superdrug

Boots from Primark

This is such a comfortable dress to wear and the thing I love the most is it has pockets!! To make it more suitable I added a cardigan for warmth, leggings and boots.

Here is how I wore it in the Summer

OMCZ #18

Hello and welcome to another OMCZ challenge and theme this week has been chosen by the lovely Verena from A Plus Size Fashion Obsession....

Nightclub“ Imagine you're going clubbing with your friends, a girls night out whatever. My problem with nightclubs is, I always feel like I'm dressed wrong. I can do the whole programme and get really dolled up but in the end I always feel that everybody around me is dressed a lot cooler, hipper, stylish....
So I would loved to see how all the other lovely ladies interpret the look “nightclub“.

Now I admit the last time I went to a nightclub was for my hen night last year, but quite often I get all dressed think I look OK and then get to the club and immediately I think everyone is better dressed than me!!

So here is my take on the challenge

Sorry for the not so fantastic photos but I am still struggling with the light!! The dress is from Primark and was £10 it is a stretchy lace material and fits really well with another room for my boobs put still a good fit on the waist. The necklace I picked up from New Look in the sale for £3 and it was first debuted at Plus North in the evening.
Just for a giggle here is a picture of me on my hen night last year!

Don't forget to check out the other fabulous ladies to see their clubbing outfits!

Style it My Way

Hello and welcome to this weeks edition of Style it My Way and the theme for this week is Preppy.

Preppy makes me think of tartan, cardigans and a more general American vibe to an outfit, now I was going to sit this one out as I didn't think I had anything that would fit the theme but then I remembered my Pink Clove dress which has been on the blog before.

I added the cardigan and bought my New Look Brogues on and hopefully I have managed to capture the theme!!

5000 Question Survey 1-30

With Christmas looming and money becoming ever tighter I needed some blog post inspiration that doesn't involve me having to buy new clothes at the moment, so imagine my delight when I stumbled across a blog post from the lovely Louise over at Polka Spots and Freckle Dots and she had posted the next instalment of the 5000 Question Survey. I followed the link that she had left on her blog and found the questions and decided to have a go- so here are questions 1-30.

A few things really, working, blogging being a mum, school runs, cooking, and playing video games!

4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the lease (of if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn't like at the time).

It varies sometimes loads of good things happen then I get a string of bad things I suppose one balances out the other!

I like to think so, I just had the anniversary of my miscarriage this week and it has now been three years and I am finally at peace with it.

I stay in and wear my pj's all day snuggled on the sofa.

15.Which is worse..losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?
I would say luggage as I love my clothes so I would be gutted.

I am very close to my parents especially my Mum, and yes the thought that there will be a time when they are no longer here is heart breaking.

What they say always stays with me, especially the negative things which I need to learn to let go of.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship?
The most important thing is trust, without that you have nothing. Make time for each other even though life is hectic take the time to talk over a cuppa.

So there you have it the first in what will be quite a series of blog posts I just hope I can mange to eventually answer all 5000 questions- and I hope I don't send you all to sleep in the process!!

If you fancy trying this for yourself you can find the questions here.

Alice and You Swing Dress

Hello and hip hip hooray its Friday, so I decided to make it a Floral Friday with my Alice and You Swing dress.

By now its no secret that I rather like swing dresses so when I casually wandered onto ASOS Curve's website the other day and spotted a rather lovely floral swing dress I was smitten. I really wanted the dress but was unsure as are you supposed to wear florals in autumn and then I smacked myself on the head and said don't be so daft you can wear what you want when you want!!!

I kept going back to look at it and then I spotted the amazing Becky from The Ramblings of Mrs BeBe wearing the dress and looking fabulous so that finally made my mind for me I knew that dress was for me.

Primark Lovely necklace

Primark Boots

As soon as I got the dress out of the bag and tried it on I knew it was a keeper, I love the bright pattern which will cheer me up over the coming winter months, my only gripe is the sleeves are quite long but I can live with that!

I know that swing dresses are still dividing opinion but if you want to see a different take on this dress then make sure you head over to the lovely Becky fromDoes My Blog Make Me Look Fat for some fantastic style inspiration.

If you like the look of this dress it is available fromASOS Curve.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend I shall spend mine spinning round in new swing dress!!

Style it My Way

Hello and welcome to this weeks Style It My Way Challenge and the theme for this week is Autumn Colours. I was going to use one of Primark oversized tops but on Monday a new Asda opened and I ended up picking up a jumper so decided to use that instead.

I love this jumper it is snuggly yet light at the same time so perfect for this time of year and over leggings it is so comfy and great for my days off work! I teamed it with my cheapy Primark £3 leggings and £5 boots. For me this a great outfit for the changeable weather we are having at the moment.

Outfit details

Jumper George at Asda
Leggings Primark
Scarf Peacocks (Last year)
Beret H&M (two years old)
