31 Days of May

Ok so that's it folks this is the last day of May and the last day of our 31 Days of May Challenge!

I just wanted to take the chance to say thank you for all the comments and page views over the last month as it has made blogging every day that little bit easier!! This has been a much harder challenge than I thought it would be I got off to a flying start at the beginning of the month and it was made easier as there were a couple of blogger challenges along the way- who can forget Flash the Flesh, but as the month has worn on I have found it harder to keep going and this hasn't been helped by my being poorly this week, but I am pleased to say that this post today is actually my 50th post!!!

I also want to say well done to the other ladies who also took part in the challenge and also thank you for letting me join in and take part in the challenge.

Becca @ Bekas Stuffy Stuff
Kaye @ Polished Curves
Toni @ The Only Way is Toni

I'm going to taking a mini break from the blog but I will be back soon.
See you soon

Thursday OOTD

Ok so I have finally given in and embraced the shorts with tights combo- I have resisted up until now as I thought I may be a smidge to old to do this look but then I thought who cares!!!

I must admit that I am quite pleased with the overall look, the shorts are from New Look and are high waisted so are really comfortable to wear and are stretchy so don't dig into me when I wear them.

Is this a trend you have embraced or are there any other trends that you want to try but aren't sure about?

Helpless In Heels

My name is Nikki and I am a shoe addict- there I said it, I love shoes even from a young age- my mum once bought me a pair of bright red wellie boots and I refused to take them off I even wanted to wear them to bed!!! (I was only 3 at the time!).

So I decided to count how many pairs of shoes I actually own after I got to 40 I stopped and opened up a bottle of wine instead!!

Now whilst I own a lot of shoes only a handful of these are heels, because I love my flats and even on a night out I am usually found in flats unless its my works christmas party then the heels do come out!

It was only when I started to try my heels on with my jeans that I noticed the difference they make, my legs look longer and somehow I carry myself differently.

So here are two of my best pairs of heels

These are what I call my stripper heels and I have had them for about 7 years!!! They came from Office and whilst they weren't cheap they have been a fantastic investment.

These are my trusty xmas do shoes which are about three years old now but are perfect with a little black dress.

Finally my flats which I love

There you have it me in heels what a shocker in fact I may even wear a pair on my next night out!

Outfit Inspiration

Happy Bank Holiday Monday people!!

As I am still a poorly bird I have decided to cheer myself up by mooching on the internet for some outfit inspiration for a night out next month- you know I'm an old fart these days who doesn't get out much!!!!

So here is what I have found:

New Look Inspire Playsuit £26.99

Now I don't own a playsuit as I have yet to find one I like as alot of them have been to short and forgive me but I don't want to go out with half my arse cheeks hanging out!!! This one has really caught my eye and would be something a bit different for me.

New Look Inspire Peplum Dress £12.99

I am already a fan of the peplum top but still haven't bought a peplum dress and at £12.99 this is a total bargain, teamed with a statement necklace and killer heels (which would probably kill me after 5 minutes!) this could be a winner.

Praslin Drape Sleeveless Dress £40.00

I do already own one Praslin dress which is a skater style dress and although this isn't the cheapest of options I know there dresses are well made. I like all the draping on this one and would hope it would disguise my tummy.

AX Curve navy Tutu Dress £40.00

I just like this one for the fun of it with the tutu bottom its a bit Carrie Bradshaw (not that I can afford to wear Manolo Blahniks with it!).

AX Curve textured dress £35.00

I have tried this dress on and I did like it it has the exposed zip down the back a bit like the Victoria Beckham dresses so gives you a little wiggle when you walk!!!

So come on ladies help me decide which fabulous outfit I should wear!!!

Poorly Sunday

Its Sunday its sunny and guess what I feel terrible- what fantastic timing so I'm really sorry but there will be no outfit posts today as for one thing I look awful and well sometimes you just have to give in and be ill!!!

This pretty much sums up how I am feeling right now but hopefully I will be back on form in a few days.

Enjoy your Sunday

My favourite Jeans

My kingdom for a pair of jeans!!! This is often the thought that crosses my mind whenever I go shopping for a new pair of jeans well its more like my kingdom for a pair of jeans that actually fit me! Since discovering skinny jeans a few years ago I have been a convert ever since but up until now I had still yet to find a pair that I truly loved and believe me I have bought a lot of jeans over the years!!

The pair that have won me over are the Bailey Ultrastretch Super Skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins. I only tried them on because they were offering money off at the time and I thought well why not and I love them so much I have even bought a second pair!!

My reason for loving them- its simple really they actually fit no longer do I have a baggy bum or baggy knees!! Because they are stretchy they move with you and are really comfortable to wear and fit over my tummy so no dreaded muffin top!!!! They also get the thumbs up from hubby (some days its like living with Gok Wan and Trinny and Susannah all rolled into one in my house!) as he is always on at me to wear proper fitting clothes!!

If you do decided to try them then I would recommend sizing down one size as they are very stretchy I bought a 16 whereas elsewhere I would be in an 18.

So here they are:

This is why hubby likes them!!!

If you want to try them for yourself here is the link Dorothy Perkins  and they have just been reduced to £20.00!!

Nail Wraps

You may remember that I was lucky enough to win some fabulous goodies from Steph over at Seeing Spots which included some nail wraps from Primark. Now these are totally new to me so I decided this morning to try them out for the first time.

So I followed the instructions and was a bit worried at first as I have ridiculously small finger nails but the idea is that you trim down the excess and then file them to make them neat. I was ok doing my left hand as I am right handed but my right hand was a bit more tricky!!

Here is the final result:

Overall they have come out quite well and I think I would use them for a night out as a change to normal nail varnish.

Have you tried them yet and if so what did you think?

Midweek Midi

Its Wednesday which means another midweek midi dress outfit post. This is a dress from Primark which I bought from Ebay, I think it may have been one from last year.

I am still undecided on this dress the armholes are a bit large so my bra ends up escaping at the sides but I'm sure if I tried I could put a stitch in to sort it out!

It is a lovely jersey material so would be ideal for summer (here's hoping we get a decent one this year!) so hopefully it will get worn!

Potty about Pockets

Don't ask me why but I love dresses that have pockets, maybe it goes back to my childhood and the lovely school summer dresses that my grandma used to make for me which always had pockets in them, but to this day I am still a sucker for pockets!

The other week we decided to pop to The Fort and whilst there I wandered in to H&M on the off chance that they might have something, so imagine my delight when I found this dress.

The style is pretty typical of most of the dresses that are around at the moment with the elasticated waist and belt but it was the pockets and the cute heart print that sold the dress to me. It is really comfortable to wear and is sure to become a staple of my wardrobe through the summer as it is perfect for work and I would also wear it at the weekend.

My sandals are from Primark and the nail varnish is Avon.

My Bucket List

Slight change of plan today as the ASOS dress I had ordered and hoped to do an outfit post on is sadly too big and being returned ASOS Floral T-shirt dress I am gutted as it looked lovely on the website and had been reduced but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be!!

So instead I have been thinking recently about all the things I would still love to do at some point during my life (especially with the big 40 being only two years away- yes hard to believe I don't look a day over 21 I hear you all say!!!!) so I thought I would compile my own bucket list.

  1. Go to New York- From a quite a young age I have always been fascinated with America and so far have only managed a trip to Florida with my parents when I was 17 and have yearned to go back ever since and see more of the country but in particular New York.
  2. Go to Las Vegas- see there is a theme developing here!! Before I got married last year I kept threatning that hubby and me were going to go to Las Vegas and get married by Elvis!!
  3. Drive a supercar- I may love clothes and fashion but I also love cars, nothing would make me happier than the chance to drive a Ferrari or an Aston Martin but the ultimate for me would have to be the Bugatti Veyron now there is a car!
  4. Wear a bikini! I haven't worn a bikini since the age of about 13 and I keep hoping that one day I will finally summon the courage to wear one once again!
  5. Have a proper Balti as although I live in Birmingham I have never been to a proper Balti house!
  6. Run my own business- I have always liked the idea of running a shop although I have no idea what I would sell!
  7. Be the Doctors companion in the Tardis and travel through time!!! (OK I know that one can't really happen but I can dream!!)
  8. Write a book
  9. I would love to go to Venice and meet Francesco Da Mosto!!
  10. Go for a meal with Adam Richman as he knows the best places to eat and well do I need to say anymore!

So there you have it probably not the most interesting list in the world but it has made me smile while writing it. Right off to find some old episodes of Man V Food to watch and drool over the food and Adam!!

Sunny Sunday OOTD

Well its Sunday and the sun has finally decided to come out and shine today, so I decided to out on my lovely new maxi dress and soak up some rays!!!

I love this dress as it is a comfortable jersey material, so is easy to wear and because of the splits on the side is practical on a day out and great fun for the occasional cheeky leg flash!!!

Amazingly given my height (5'4") this dress is the perfect length and unlike some I have had in the past I don't tread on it when I walk! I got this in a size 18 and there is plenty of room to manoeuvre and it doesn't cling too much over my stomach!

I hope you have all had a sunny day wherever you are

Time for a Change

Happy Saturday everyone hope you are all having a great day wherever in the world you are.

I decided it was time for a change of hair colour, now I am naturally blonde (not hard to believe when you see the amount of blonde moments I have!!), but as I am getting older my hair has been starting to get darker. Last year I had a total change and dyed it ginger and this has slowly been fading over the last few months and my more natural hair colour has crept back.

I finally got round to buying a dye today and hubby very kindly dyed my hair for me - he is very good!!!

So here we go:

So this is the one I used!!!

As you can see it is very very blonde but I like it, and it has made my hair look thicker as I have very fine hair but lots of it!!!!
Sorry for the quick close up shots but as I was wearing an old t-shirt and joggers I didn't think you want to see that!!

Even my six year old son liked it!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day
