Curvissa Autumn Boot Review*

Now I know we are only just getting to the end of August but if you are anything like me then your thoughts may well be turning to autumn/winter, so when the lovely people at Curvissa asked if I would like to join four other  bloggers in reviewing a pair of boots I was very excited to see what they had to offer.

Due to my everyday journey to work being part public transport and part hiking through the city centre when it comes to the colder months I need something to keep my feet warm and me upright (I have tendency to always find the icy patches!!) so with this in mind I made my choice.

I went with these lovely Extra Wide Fitting Boots* which come in two different calf sizes, XL and XXL. I decided to try the XXL and to be fair I could have gotten away with the XL but the extra room means I will be able to comfortably tuck my jeans into them and pop a good pair of boots socks inside if I want to. They have a lovely stretchy panel at the back which means they don't pinch your legs and have lots of give. The soles are sturdy and have lots of grip which is perfect for me as hopefully I shall stay upright all through the winter!!I should also point out that these are Extra Wide (EE) in the foot.

They are a lovely soft leather and don't feel like they need breaking in (there is nothing worse than sore heels from new shoes) so for me these get five stars!

I chose to style them with my Curvissa denim dress as I am rather looking forward to wearing this again when the weather is cooler. I would happily wear them with jeans for a casual weekend look or with a dress for work.

Don't forget voting is still open for the British Plus Size Awards and Curvissa have been nominated for best footwear retailer and they would love your support so please head over and cast your vote!

Outfit August Day Twenty Eight

I know I know I have totally slacked on the blogging front this week as I have been back at work after two weeks off, and I also had a 24 hour bug!! The rain has also been my nemesis this week and everytime I thought  I might do some outfit photos it rained!!

Anyway I finished work a bit earlier today and would you believe the sun put his hat on so I got some photos done!!!

Yours clothing oversized top size 20

Lucky for me we do dress down Friday at my work place so I headed off today in one of my favourite oversized tops and a pair of jeans. I am trying to keep my summer vibes going so I chucked on my old Ipanema flip flops to keep my feet cool.

I think by know must of you know I love a good oversized top and this one from Yours Clothing has been a firm favourite since I bought it last year. They have had some different ones this year which I didn't get round to trying but I feel they are the best retailer when it comes to good jersey oversized tops as they really are properly oversized.

My jeans are my trusty Simply Be Acid wash skinnies which I love as they are super high waisted, I think I really need to buy some more in different colours! The flip flops are really old from New Look and the necklace was a sale purchase from New Look last year!

Outfit August Day Twenty One

It's day twenty one of Outfit August and this month seems to be flying by so fast!! Today's choice of outfit is a very casual one which I wore for a tootle round Birmingham with hubby so I wanted to be comfy.

The top is an old one from Zara that I have had for about two years and picked up in the sale for £5.00, my jeans are my usual Evans super skinnies and my trainers are Converse.

I decided last minute to add the necklace and I'm so glad I did as when I went for a coffee the chap serving me mentioned how cool it was!! I should wear it more often I fact I have no idea why I don't!

Outfit August Day Eighteen

After a few days break I am back with day eighteen of outfit august and today it is a bargain Ebay Dress!

I became aware of this dress via a lady on Facebook who had bought one and looked rather fabulous in it. It was about £8.00 including postage from China so I ordered one and then sat patiently waiting for it to arrive. In fact it turned up far more quickly than I had expected and for the price didn't disappoint.

I actually wore this the other week when I spent the day having an audience with the Daleks (I recorded some of the day on Periscope) and it was a really comfortable outfit for a warm day. I do have to wear a slip underneath as it is quite see through. What I really love is the drawstring under the bust as it gives some definition to the dress and stops it from being too loose, although if you prefer a more smock style you could wear it looser.

I love it so much I have ordered another one in a green version as I am hoping for a bit more warm weather possible even an Indian Summer so this will see me through to Autumn!

Outfit August Day Fourteen

Happy Friday you lovely lot, sadly it's raining here today but to cheer myself up I have the most gorgeous dress on the blog today. I have wanted this dress ever since I saw Sarah from Plus Size and Proud in it who by the way looked all kinds of fabulous!

The dress in question is the Katniss from Voodoo Vixen. I have been patiently waiting for it to come back in stock and a huge klaxon was sounded last week in the PS blogging world and this time I was determined it would be mine!!!!

I finally managed to take it for a spin around Birmingham yesterday and I won't lie I felt fabulous even though it did get a few looks!!

So here she is in all her glory!

Voodoo Vixen Katniss Dress size 3XL

I decided to pop my net petticoat on underneath to give more fullness to the skirt which just made me want to twirl around all the time! To keep it casual I wore my converse and denim jacket but you could easily add heels and really make this into a more dressy outfit.

So was it worth the wait? I think so I am so happy to finally have this dress in my life (even better I managed to find a discount code before ordering it).

Outfit August Day Eleven

I am back with day eleven of Outfit August after a brief two day break from the challenge! Today's outfit is what I wore for a trip to Worcester where we popped to Gheluvet Park for a picnic. We all loved it there especially the Splash Pad area which Oliver thought was fantastic, and then we headed off to Worcester Woods Country Park for a well deserved cuppa and yet more park fun for Oliver!

I decided to keep my outfit practical and comfortable today which meant dragging out my old faithful Simply Be denim dress (I think I wear this dress at least once a week!).

This was the ideal outfit for a day out to the park and the sun decided to put his hat on and come out to play!

Summer Fun With House of Fraser*

In my life I wear several hats (well this is how I see it!), blogger by night, administrator by day and a mum all of the time- yes that hat never really leaves my head it just has to budge up to make room for the others!

I'm sure most of you know by now that I have an eight year old son called Oliver and at the moment he is enjoying his summer holiday from school (this means either hubby or me trying to find ways of keeping him occupied which don't involve hours of YouTube!!). So you can imagine how excited we were when the lovely people at House of Fraser asked if we, well actually Oliver would like to review something from their toy department!

I let Oliver have a peruse of the site and of course he went for a NERF Dart gun as he loves them- it would appear that they are rather popular!

So here is what he chose..

The inevitable search for the darts!!

Now I am reliably informed by Oliver that this is the NERF Roughcut 2x4 which he chose as it can fire two darts at the same time and he found it easy to use and load. This led to a Friday night spent in our back garden with Oliver trying to see how far he could shoot the darts including trying to get one through our open bedroom window!!!

Needless to say he has already had loads of fun with this both inside and outside and I would be lying if I said I hadn't had a go with it!!!

On behalf of Oliver I would like to say a big thank you to House of Fraser as this has totally made his summer and I have one very happy boy!

*Item gifted for review but all opinions are my/Oliver's own.

Outfit August Day Eight

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend it has been wonderfully sunny here in Brummieland today so I decided to take one of my new ASDA maxi dresses for a spin!

I bought this a few months ago when the weather was still a lot colder as I know with George clothing if I don't buy something when I see it, the next time I go back it will have gone!

George at ASDA Maxi Dress size 24

I love how comfortable this dress is, it has an elasticated waist and a cross over bust line (which has a little stitch to hold it together). I still need a vest underneath as the v is quite low and the armholes are huge- I always have this issue so I need a bit of coverage.

My sandals are from Primark and sadly by the end of the day rubbed me a bit as my feet got sweaty and slipped around inside but for £10 they are pretty good.
