Days Out

Hooray the sun has finally found its way to the UK so we have been making the most of it with some days out over the last couple of weekends. Firstly we headed off to Evesham with a picnic in tow as our six year old son loves the water park there.

If you have small children then this is a great place to go as there is the water park, a huge sandpit play area, and skate park and the park itself is lovely for a picnic and a stroll down by the river.

Yesterday we headed off to The Forest of Dean and Puzzlewood again with a picnic in tow! Puzzlewood is an ancient forest which according to their website inspired JRR Tolkien when he imagined the forests of middle earth. It has also been used as a filming location for both Dr Who and Merlin. It is good you have to pay to go in which for the three of us was £14.00 but once you have paid you can come and go as you please. The paths through the forest are very narrow and at times steep which is ok until you meet someone coming the other way and then chaos ensues!! It is pretty and quite magical with strange rock formations but you have to stick to the paths so you can't really explore too much.

We then decided to head off to Beechenhurst Lodge which is the main visitor centre in The Forest of Dean, here you can find a cafe, climbing wall, and play area for the children. After lunch we headed off on the sculpture trail now this has been here for quite some time and hubby and I have walked round it before. To do the whole trail takes between 2-3 hours and means you will see all of the sculptures dotted throughout the forest but we cheated and took a few shortcuts but it still meant that we spent over an hour wandering through the forest!

Hope you have been enjoying the sunshine wherever you are
